Bad Nauheim and Friedberg

Just swinging at the Park!

While we were home we never ate at fast-food places, but it seems that we are becoming fast-food junkies. Not really, but KFC certainly tasted good!

On Monday, August 9, 2010 we went to Bad Nauheim. Bad Nauheim is the city that Elvis Presley spent his army stint while he was in Germany. The people in Bad Nauheim seem to really like Elvis Presley because there were posters and pictures of him all over the city. They are getting ready for a big Elvis Festival.

This picture is of bath-houses. I don't know if they are still used. But, when Don was here for his first mission he only got a bath once a week and it was in a public bath house. We are certainly happy that we don't have to use public bath houses now. I (Karen) don't think that I would survive.

This is a (who the heck knows what it is?) And who are those two people standing at the top?

Another view of the bathhouses

We visited a large park. It is a little bit like Thankgiving Point with huge gardens to walk through and enjoy.

Where in the world is Elder Bushman?

Just relaxing!

Really relaxing!

Our friends, Carol and Ron Frost

Don asked someone what kind of a bird this is--and they answered, "Just a duck!"

A friendly chess game in the park!

After leaving Bad Nauheim we went to Friedberg. This is a fun little town with an old castle. Inside the castle walls is more town. This is one of my (Karen's) favorite castles--we didn't have to hike UP to it!

Tower of the castle

Inside wall of castle.

Cars could drive through this arch to get inside the castle walls.

Don is always trying to get inside locked doors and gates!!!!
