Enjoy the flowers with us!

People that came to the temple this week were from Paris, France and from Heidleburg, Germany. It was a very busy week. One of Karen's duties in the temple is to occasionally play the organ for early morning Devotional Meetings. It is very interesting to be playing the organ and to hear the songs sung in three different languages all at the same time--English, French and German. Being the organist, sometimes it gets a bit confusing to know exactly where we are in the song!

On Monday, November 1, 2010 we traveled for about 140 miles away to a town by the name of Lahr. Each year they hold a Chrysanthemum Festival and decorate the center of town in beautiful flowers. This year the theme of the festival was Fairy Tales.
This picture was of the street when we first entered into the center of town. Most of the pictures we will not comment on--we just want to share the beauties that we enjoyed.

This part of the castle of the city is the only part of the castle still standing. As you all know we are facinated by the castles.

This depicts Rapunsel and her long hair. Rapunsel is standing at the top in the window and her long braid goes to the ground. Notice the large red bow at the end of the braid.

Hansel and Gretel and the wicked witch.

Peter Rabbit
Don't know what a Hedgehog has to do with Peter Rabbit?

In the very center of town there were vendors selling their ware. The next three pictures is of our favorite--we thought the kids would especially enjoy seeing these pictures. Everything is made out of metal.

There was also a large stage set up and at the time we were there was an orchestra performing classical music. There were also food vendors. It was interesting to us that in the city all of the stores were closed--the only businesses that were open were the restaurants. As you can see there were many many people there the day that we attended. The festival was scheduled to go for about 10 days.

Hand organ music being played

We hope you enjoyed this flower show. We really enjoyed the day!
P.S. For those of you that don't know--if you would like to see a picture a little bigger than it is--click on it and it will enlarge. (Hopefully)
